Job Summary
Alaska Overview
ConocoPhillips is Alaska's largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1.6 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2021. The company produced an average of 197 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2021. ConocoPhillips has major ownership interests in two of North America's largest oil fields, both located on Alaska's North Slope-Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips operates the Alpine Field located on the Western North Slope. The company has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.

Description
As a key member of the Alaska Logistics and Materials team, the Logistics Specialist is accountable for daily maintenance and support of managing procured materials freight activity including truck, air, ocean, and freight forwarding modes. The Specialist supports contractual agreements to maximize value in terms of spend, process efficiency, internal controls, and compliance with trade regulations.

The Logistics Specialist is expected to collaborate and interface with AK Business Unit representatives, Corporate SME(s), and Contractors to successfully source and manage contracts that meet the intended results of quality, cost, and schedule delivery requirements.

Job Description

Your responsibilities may include:
  • Work as a member of the Alaska Business Unit Logistics team to define, execute, and achieve the Logistics Plan objectives
  • Develop overall strategy and long-term plan for road, rail, air, and marine transportation
  • Manage internal work processes in support of Alaska freight activity
  • Interact with Transportation Carriers to resolve and assist in daily transactions for domestic and international shipments
  • Act as the key resource to businesses on CPAI freight systems, data, and global freight functional knowledge
  • Assist with sourcing and contracting strategies in all transportation lanes
  • Maintain Logistics and Materials Process Guidelines (Routing Guide)
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and cost of logistics
  • Interact with transportation carriers to ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Work with carriers to resolve and assist in daily transactions
  • Track and communicate status of priority shipments
  • Key resource to the business for day-to-day logistics needs
  • Day-to-day shipping mode optimization
  • Collaborate with carriers on continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor carrier performance
  • Identify and escalate risks and challenges to meeting cost and service targets
  • Maintain relationships with key carriers
  • Logistics contract management
  • Partner with procurement team within BU and at corporate to drive sourcing efforts across various modes of transportation to achieve expected cost and service targets
  • Support development of RFIs/RFPs
  • Define scope of work for logistics providers
  • Collaborate with business to optimize road, air, marine, and rail freight costs and service (e.g., consolidation, higher utilization of trucks)
  • Identify and assess potential risks in road, rail, air, and marine logistics
  • Lead strategic initiatives to improve Alaska logistics
  • Lead and manage logistics of specialized transportation
  • Participation in the Anchorage Incident Management Team
Basic/Required:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field or foreign equivalent
  • 5+ years' experience in logistics or transportation
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodations) to travel 20% on an annual basis
Preferred:
  • 7+ years' experience in logistics or transportation
  • 3+ years' experience in SAP
  • 1+ years North Slope logistics experience
  • 1+ years experience supporting a complex logistics network
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of North Slope Oil & Gas Operations
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to develop commonly used logistics modeling tools to support decision making and planning efforts
  • Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
  • Builds strong relationships based on trust and seeks opportunities to collaborate across the matrix/organizational boundaries to achieve business goals
