The Senior Field Service Technician will support the Field Service Organization (FSO). The FSO supports the implementation and maintenance of highly technical mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.

Job tasks include but are not limited to: deployment, optimization, and repair of infrastructure, public safety loggers, subscribers, microwaves, computers, servers, and network equipment. The department works with Customers, System Managers, Engineers, Sales teams, Project Managers, System Technologists, and Service Partners to accomplish the mission. The FSO department is on-call 24/7/365 to support mission-critical systems for our public safety customers.


Job Description
  • Maintenance and management of highly technical Motorola communications systems
  • Focus on maintaining optimal performance levels across an integrated system and addressing system-level alarms and malfunctions
  • Manage system availability through routine maintenance, performance monitoring, and preventative maintenance
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques and latest technologies for digital and analog Motorola communications equipment and system architectures
  • Provide technical support and coordinate activities within the Motorola Network Operation Center
  • Verify swift and accurate responses to alerts, ensuring appropriate repair or escalation of issues
  • Strive to maintain high level of service for customers, providing timely notification of network and maintenance statuses
  • Support 24/7 Network Operations and work across shifts as required
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with P25 Systems, LMR RF systems, wired/wireless communication systems, networking equipment, IT networks, and subscriber equipment
  • Ability to pass background checks, obtain security clearances, and maintain a clean driving record
  • Availability for on-call duty 24/7/365
  • Strong knowledge of wired/wireless communication systems, LAN, and WAN
  • Knowledge of standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet-switching techniques
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Strong self-management and interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers, partners, and internal teams
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations
  • Knowledge of channel banks, routers, hubs, and switches configuration and testing
  • Ability to develop and deliver technical training
  • Integration of new tools and solutions into team operations
  • Experience with equipment used in optimizing and testing Motorola communications systems
  • Configuration and testing experience with Motorola two-way radio and subscriber products
  • FCC license and industry certifications (e.g., ETA) are a plus.
The Senior Field Service Technician MUST reside in the state of Alabama within 70 miles of the city of Tuscaloosa.

Basic Requirements
  • Associate's Degree AND 2+ years of experience OR 6+ years as an Electronic or Field Technician/Specialist in one of the following: P25 Systems, LMR RF Systems, wired/wireless communication systems, networking equipment, IT networks, and subscriber equipment, routers, switches, or firewall configurations
