Description
The Division of a Cardiology is seeking a motivated candidate to play a key role within a world-class health organization. As a Fund Manager, you will provide comprehensive analysis while managing extramural grant fund functions for the assigned Department of Medicine- Cardiology Division. In this high visibility position, we're looking to you to represent Research Faculty interests in all pre- and post-award areas. You will: •Contact funding agencies to clarify and resolve issues •Coordinate research activities, agency reports, and special requests •Compose, edit, and prepare written correspondence •Support the implementation of new/ongoing research administration activities •Help Division Administrator complete research administration assignments •Manage the preparation and submission of grant proposals and budgets •Provide financial analysis and long-range planning for all awards •Oversee operations of post-award activation and administration •Review and recommend process improvements •Develop systemized accounting operations Salary range: $28.20-$60.57 Hourly

Qualifications
Required: * Demonstrated skill in financial analysis, planning, preparation, and administration of a budget with multiple complex funding sources. * Demonstrated experience in post-award research administration, including fund close-out. * Skill in navigating through Query Data Base (QDB) and Employment Data Base (EDB). * Demonstrated experience in interpretation and hands-on application of accounting, budgetary, and auditing principles and practices in a University or non-profit environment. * Working knowledge of University financial ledgers and payroll and accounting systems. * Demonstrated skill in preparing short and long term budget projections and analyzing financial reports. * Mathematical skills and experience sufficient to monitor expenses, analyze costs, prepare budget projections, identify discrepancies, and identify potential problems using spreadsheet programs. * Working knowledge of University, NIH, and other major awarding agencies' grants restrictions and requirements. * Familiarity with UCLA transfer of fund online system. * Knowledge of microcomputer systems and local area networks in order to enter and manipulate * data on various computerized financial programs and downloads. * Familiarity with Microsoft word processing and spreadsheet programs to include MS Word, Excel, and Access. * Ability to initiate and implement novel solutions to various financial problems, including skill in organizing material, information, and resources in a systematic way to maximize efficiency and minimize duplication. * General knowledge of University personnel, payroll, purchasing and travel procedures and policies. * Ability to prepare computer-based analytical and administrative (ad-hoc) financial reports and correspondence, including cost management analysis to correlate resources with divisional programmatic needs in a clear, concise, and appropriate manner. * Ability to work with minimal supervision and set priorities in order to meet varying demands and competing deadlines from a variety of individuals. * Familiarity with human subject and animal subject and IRB policies and procedures. * Ability to accurately provide oral and written instructions and communicate clearly and concisely using proper English in order to convey messages, follow instructions, and obtain information. * Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of faculty, physicians, principal investigators, staff, fellows, and the public in a cooperative manner, including members of EFM, OCGA, general accounting, and funding agencies. * Ability to function as part of a team and as accounting/grants manager liaison/analyst in large, complex divisions. * Ability to provide information and/or explain policies and procedures. * Skill in organizing material, information, and resources in a systematic way to maximize efficiency and minimize duplication. * Skill in projecting, analyzing, and monitoring income and expense trends on basis of existing revenue and cost data. * Skill in maintaining confidentiality at the highest levels * Skill in programmatic evaluation to develop and maintain information systems as they relate to extramural awards and proposals, personnel, financial and organizational needs. * Organizational skills to work effectively as a representative of the division. Preferred: * Demonstrated expertise in proposal pre-awards submission process. * Demonstrated ability in creation of comprehensive databases and database management. * Familiarity with UCLA Payroll Expense Transfer system relating to transfer of salary funding. * Demonstrated management skills to provide direction and management of large divisional unit as necessary back-up and to represent the division at regional and national meetings.
