The Opportunity

This Veterinary Technician I Position works out of or Camarillo CA location with our Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.

What You'll Work On
  • Follow guidelines from the facilities' Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Follow instructions from the attending veterinarian for treatment of animals.
  • Make observations and advises veterinarian of animal's conditions.
  • Provide animal health care including, but not limited to, perioperative monitoring, administering medications by various routes, dental care, administering vaccinations, and providing systemic treatment.
  • Perform dental prophylaxis. Performs routine v ivarium duties including, but not limited to, cleaning and disinfection of kennels, and feeding of canines.
  • Use proper animal restraint techniques to ensure adequate control and safety.
  • Sterilize surgical instruments. Disinfect facility equipment and rooms.
  • Use knowledge gained from medical education and experience in cardiology, general anatomy and surgical techniques for assisting in surgical procedures.
  • Perform various clerical activities; includes, but is not limited to, maintaining animal health and study files, maintaining various logs, inventory, and purchasing.
  • Performs related functions, on occasion, as assigned.
  • Internal: Interfaces with the R&D staff at work on various studies, collecting data and/or solving problems with Lead Development Engineers for lead implants, to provide test results for Pre-Clinical Research data entry persons regarding data analysis programs. Interfaces with Attending Veterinarian regarding facility program healthcare.
  • External: Interacts with various contract companies and bio-medical firms. These companies provide services such as medical supplies, office supplies, equipment maintenance, waste disposal, and radiation exposure badges. Interacts with visiting medical personnel during training and/or product evaluations.
  • Equipment: The employee must be familiar with the following equipment: IBM based computer programs, kennel maintenance equipment, weight scales defibrillator, x-ray equipment, pulse oximeter, thermometers, dental scaling equipment, chart recording devices, anesthesia equipment, steam sterilization, blood analysis, and laundry equipment.
Required Qualifications
  • High-school diploma is required and a two-year degree or equivalent experience is desired.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Occasional overtime is a requirement of this position (every 2 or 4 weeks

The base pay for this position is $21.55 - $43.15 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
