The Opportunity

We have an immediate opening in our Abbott Park, IL or Chicago, IL Location for Marketing Services - Senior Procurement Specialist within our Global Procurement Services (GPS) division.

As a Senior Specialist, you will lead procurement activities for the stakeholders to bring best value for Abbott Laboratories. You will be responsible for executing against the purchasing and supply management strategies created by the Category Managers. Work intimately with Stakeholders, divisions and the Category managers driving the "One Abbott Procurement" model. Provide superior levels of customer service and satisfaction while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity. You will have delegated authority to commit company funds. You will work on the definition and resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, feasibility and specifications in the procurement of goods and services while contributing cost savings, partnerships with suppliers and other value-added activities to support customer needs and expectations.

What You'll Work On
  • Considered a Subject Matter Expert across categories. Strong understanding of "One Procurement" category strategies and work on projects that impact the "One Procurement" team.
  • Is recognized as an expert within Marketing. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. Act as a lead, coordinating work but may not be a supervisor.
  • First line responder; pivots between strategy and operations. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Develop and leads agreed sourcing strategies and agency negotiations.
  • Seek, develop and establish business relationships with diverse suppliers.
  • Execute against larger category strategies and work in the guidance of strategic category leaders.
  • Researches and evaluates products and suppliers. Performs value analysis on costs and supplier quotes.
  • Recommends process improvements to streamline for efficiencies.
  • Analyzes complex problems and delivers solutions.
  • Support and manage PO approvals or changes.
  • Educate on existing solutions and enable performance and tech tools development.
  • Support Operational issues and invoice error resolution. Solves complex problems.
  • Enable supplier integration and KPI's.
  • Drive value and lead savings outcomes
  • Collaboration with internal functions like legal, Finance, treasury, etc.
  • Develops bids and proposal formats. Lead complex RFPs as well as lead small projects.
  • Provides advice/direction in primary areas of expertise.
  • Communicate and educate appropriate departments to provide appropriate supporting documentation for purchases.
  • Meet regularly with divisional internal stakeholders and lead functions to ensure superior customer satisfaction and continuous improvement for efficiencies.
  • Responsible for performance management of all supportive personnel (non-exempts)
  • Responsible for leading and mentoring Associate Specialist and Specialist procurement personnel. Provides guidance and training to Specialist.
  • Understand and apply cultural awareness with foreign business entities.
  • Drive and grow strong effective business relationships with suppliers, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible to drive compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures
  • Executes against the goals set by the Category Leads /Managers/Directors
  • Drive innovative ways to maintain and improve procurement processes, cycle times, total acquisition costs, and customer service levels.
  • Proactively seek and lead innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, and customer service levels
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree: Marketing, Business, Logistics, Engineering, Science or Financial Degrees
  • 4+ years of Procurement experience preferably in Marketing
  • Solid experience with Strategic Sourcing, Supplier management and Contract negotiation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPM certification desired
  • 2+ years of functional experience within Marketing Procurement or Agency Experience
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent people skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of spreadsheet programs (MS Excel/MS Power Point)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 - $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
