Fauske & Associates, LLC (FAI) is a Westinghouse Electric Company affiliated company located in Burr Ridge, Illinois, approximately 20 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. The company was founded in 1980 and has brought a high tech capability to the understanding of issues related to both nuclear reactor safety and chemical reactor safety. The principals and staff are recognized in the nuclear and chemical industries for phenomenological modeling and development of tools related to the prevention and accommodation of chemical and nuclear plant accidents. The services provided to customers all around the world for the last 30 years are unique and specialized. If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Process Safety Engineer.
Your Day-to-Day:
As a principal engineer, you will use your expertise in process controls, process instrumentation, programming, thermodynamics, and transport phenomena to support product development and consulting projects with our customers.
Support product development including the design of calorimeters and battery testing services.
Support software development by implementing mathematical models into a C++ code base and use Git for source code control.
Perform laboratory experiments, engineering calculations, and assessments related to process safety, safe operation of nuclear power plants and waste treatment, thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, and other duties as assigned by manager.
Prepare appropriate documentation supporting evaluations and analyses.
Verify routine evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified.
Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budgetary requirements.
Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and support the business strategic initiatives.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
Mentor junior engineers on areas in which there is subject matter expertise.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
BS required, PhD or equivalent experience preferred (Chemical, Mechanical, or Nuclear)
Minimum 8 years of applicable experience required; 10 plus years preferred.
Skills: coding in C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, MathCAD, and/or Python; experience with source code control
Competencies: general mathematical and modeling skills, technical writing, thermodynamics, transport phenomena (momentum, heat, and mass), kinetics, multi-phase flow modeling
