Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for ensuring plants order correctly, that weekly orders run on time, and that minimal delays occur with deliveries for the PCA plants. This individual must have the best understanding of the plant's business/seasonality and is the voice for all items related to corrugated supply. This individual provides continuous feedback and implements strategies in order for the plant to maintain ideal inventories.

Principle Accountabilities:
  • Understands all aspects of containerboard supply for each plant assigned and uses the data to make the best supply decisions. This includes items related to demand (plant customers and seasonality) plus supply (primary and backup vendors, transportation methods and any issues related to supply disruptions)
  • Communicates supply and/or demand trends to the Trades Manager in order to consider strategy changes
  • Conducts weekly containerboard order analysis and approval, monitors daily inventory levels, develops and communicates an action plan if the plant is above or below targeted levels.
  • Updates and monitors vendor run dates and develops alternate action plan if vendor is not running on time to keep plant supplied with paper.
  • Understand the most cost-effective vendor transportation methods, ensure that this method is available for an ongoing basis and implement with the plant; this would include coordinating the best option for costs and service ensuring that inventory goals and weekly orders are tied to the transportation method.
  • Submits all quality complaints to the applicable mill and ensures resolution is received by the plant within 30 days, pursues alternate supply while the quality issue is resolved.
  • Knows and follows policies and procedures of the company, shares information that would benefit other members of the team and finds ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.
  • Strives to continually strengthen PCA's business philosophy of meeting needs and exceeding expectation for customers specifically supporting PCA's Commitment to Service which involves doing what's right for our customers, focusing on strategies that add value and support growth, and keeping the promises that we make.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Logistics/Supply Chain.
  • Education equivalent to a bachelor's degree; A minimum of five years Logistics/Supply Chain experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of PC applications including Word, Excel and Outlook, must be able to learn new software as needed
  • Previous experience with computer order entry system, AS/400 preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to multi-task with the ability to prioritize.
  • Strong problem solving skills with ability to create alternative solutions and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to various levels of plant and CBS management.
  • Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
