HJF is seeking a Licensed Military Behavioral Health Provide r to support the Center for Deployment Psychology’s SBHP program. The incumbent will perform a variety of activities as a trainer and mental health specialist. This is a remote position.

This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP), which is based in Bethesda, MD. The Licensed Military Behavioral Health Provider will assist with activities related to CDP’s mission, which is to lead the development of a community of culturally mindful and clinically competent providers through the delivery of high-quality training and education, the convening of experts, and the dissemination of research-based treatment and the latest topics in military behavioral health. CDP strives to be the central hub for the Military Health System (MHS) in the development and implementation of training and education to clinicians in order to ensure that all service members, veterans, and their families receive quality behavioral healthcare that meets their unique needs. The Licensed Behavioral Health Professional will contribute to the national expansion of Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) program, a training and referral program that is building a network of civilian community mental health providers across the 54 U.S. states and territories and an online therapist directory to support the military population, with an emphasis on National Guard (NG) members. Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) provides administrative and management support to the Center.

We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Note: This work site requires that Non-US Citizen incumbents have lived in the US three out of the past five years.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering online and in-person training on military culture, military mental health conditions and other service related topics which includes developing and updating presentations and training materials based on the literature.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in military behavioral health issues including the ability to integrate the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture, and preferences, such that the candidate is able to provide training and consultation that is empirically sound as well as culturally competent, inclusive and accessible across a wide variety of contexts.
  • Interacting closely with National Guard (NG) state behavioral health teams virtually and in-person to promote adoption of SBHP and use of the therapist directory for referring airmen and soldiers.
  • Representing SBHP virtually and in person at state and national military and civilian conferences and planning events for stakeholders to raise SBHP’s national profile.
  • Designing and implementing outreach strategies and creating resources for building a community of SBHP practitioners and connecting them with NG behavioral health officers.
  • Collaborating closely with key stakeholders and partners such as the National Guard Bureau (NGB) and Military Family Research Institute (MFRI) at Purdue University to evaluate, enhance, and elevate SBHP and ensure its success.
  • Serving as an active member/lead on team projects and assisting with programming, strategic communications, metrics, and efficiencies.
  • Contributes to CDP’s subject matter expert blog posts, podcasts, videos, infographics, asynchronous training materials, and other additional educational activities as needed. Prepares scholarly manuscripts for publication and presents at national and/or international conferences to disseminate the work conducted by the Center.
  • The incumbent may perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.


Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related clinical field required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience delivering professional presentations to adult learners including:
    • Experience with curriculum development of presentations and other materials for adult continuing education.
    • An ability to engage mental health professionals with different experience levels, respond to questions, and convey points clearly.
  • Knowledge of the military population and military behavioral health issues and is a champion of DoD-approved evidence-based psychotherapies.
  • Knowledge of the Reserve Component as well as NG practices and policies related to behavioral health care is preferred.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write professional correspondence, educational and marketing materials, and reports, as well as to provide briefings and updates to internal and external partners including the NGB and NG state teams.
  • Clinical experience providing mental health services to adult clients.
  • An active clinical license to practice within the US.


Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment
  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation
  • The likely salary range for this position is $73,800 USD to $112,000 USD annually based on a 40-hour work week. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensations or salary. Final salary will be determined based on market analysis, experience, and education.

Security Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required.
