Salary Range: $ 88,400 - $ 140,000

Incentive: PIP 10%

Job Summary

The Transmission System Operator monitors, controls and coordinates the operation and reliability of the Bulk Electric System in accordance with the PJM agreement and NERC Standards.

Job Responsibilities

Direct Bulk Electric System switching and tagging. Follow all PSE&G Safety Rules and procedures as the Transmission System Tagging Authority. Implement the PSE&G system restoration plan in response to a system interruption. Exercise mature judgment and broad knowledge of Bulk Electric System principles and practices. Monitor the status of all Transmission Facilities while controlling the voltage profile of the Bulk Electric System. Directs and performs non-routine specialized analysis prior to, and following all directions for switching of the Bulk Electric System. Perform real-time load flow analysis of the Bulk Electric System. Follow procedures to ensure PSE&G maintains compliance with FERC, NERC, PJM and RFC Mandatory Standards. The consequence of non-compliance with a NERC Reliability Standard is NERC fines of up to $1 Million per day per violation.


    Job Specific Qualifications

    • High School diploma or GED

    • Successfully complete the System Operator/Power Dispatcher pre-placement test.

    • Must have the ability to communicate effectively; exercise independent action, judgment and risk management; act decisively; and interact effectively with all Transmission System stakeholders.

    • Understand and adhere to the Standards of Conduct as described in FERC Order 717, and Data Confidentiality Agreements.

    • Experience in Transmission, Generation, Distribution Operations, System Relay Protection and/or Station Mechanical Skills.

    • Must have a valid U. S. driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

    • Technical knowledge of Electric Power Systems.

    • Must work 12 hour rotating shifts and be available to respond for emergency and relief assignments.

    • Must attain NERC Transmission Operator Certification and PJM System Operator Certification within 12 months of start date.

    • Must complete ESOC On The Job Training process within 18 months of start date.

    • Must Complete PJM and Company Specific Task Verification within 24 months of start date.

    • Must successfully complete the PJM Interconnection Training Program for System Operators.

    • Must complete mandatory PJM and NERC yearly training requirements and Continuing Education Hours .

    Desired:

    • Degree in Engineering or Technology

    • Load flow analysis experience, and real time operational experience including Substation/Generation/Relay skills.
