Position Description:
Serve as legal partner to Business Unit or Regional leadership on various topics, including business practices and policies, contract negotiations, and contested claims.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
In coordination with BU leadership, prepare, review and negotiate construction and commercial
agreements on behalf of Business Units and Departments.
• Lead and execute all stages in the contract life cycle, from preliminary/conceptual advice, through
structuring, negotiating, drafting, closing, and any subsequent conflict resolution.
• Ensure that all contracts accurately reflect business objectives as well as compliance with all
federal, state, local laws and regulatory requirements.
• Negotiate teaming and joint venture agreements and perform related due diligence.
• Direct the management and resolution of contested matters.
• Advise on major change orders and waivers/releases.
• Identify contractual noncompliance by owners, trade partners, and elevate to leadership for action.
• Manage budgets for litigation matters (in collaboration with Risk Management Claims Director).
• Develop and implement company policies in support of strategic initiatives in collaboration with senior management.
• Develop and maintain internal relationships and provide coordination and oversight with outside counsel when necessary.
• Review and record performance of counsel, consultants, mediators and arbitrators involved in
dispute resolution matters.
• Assist in the development of best practices with respect to contract terms.
• Prepare and deliver legal training to Business Units on a variety of legal topics, including project
specific requirements and ethics/compliance.
• Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned

- Qualifications:
JD degree with a valid law license. Minimum of 8 years' experience with an emphasis on construction law
or related transactional practice preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or
experience. Operates at an accelerated performance level with ability to prioritize many simultaneous
complex and competing demands activities, requests, and short-cycle deadlines. Ability to work across
functional lines and all levels within organization. True collaborator, maintain balanced view of business
and effectively challenges senior management, providing candid, honest assessment.
Supervisory/management of small team preferred. Proven written and verbal communication abilities with
emphasis on problem solving and negotiation, with ability to explain complex legal concepts to employees
and staff at all levels. Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite, and various
legal case management systems. Ability to read, understand, and interpret contracts and insurance
documents. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff at all levels, both internal and
external. Ability to travel.

The salary range for New York City Candidates for this position is estimated to be $160,000-210,000
