The Senior Field Service Technician will support the Field Service Organization (FSO). The FSO supports the implementation and maintenance of highly technical mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.

Job tasks include but are not limited to: deployment, optimization, and repair of infrastructure, public safety loggers, subscribers, microwaves, computers, servers, and network equipment. The department works with Customers, System Managers, Engineers, Sales teams, Project Managers, System Technologists, and Service Partners to accomplish the mission. The FSO department is on-call 24/7/365 to support mission-critical systems for our public safety customers.


Job Description
  • Responsibilities include the optimization and support of complex mission critical communication systems.
  • Provide technical support for specialized systems and applications, including troubleshooting software-driven electronics and optimizing RF and Broadband architecture.
  • Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems.
  • Program, configure, test, and document complex mission critical communication systems and provide weekly reports.
  • Deliver a strong knowledge of wired communication systems (LAN, WAN) and proficiency in network installation, configuration, and maintenance are required.
  • Capable of installing server hardware/OS, troubleshooting system/application issues, and resolving them.
  • Possess strong leadership abilities to effectively manage and coordinate teams working on complex communication system projects
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information and instructions to team members and clients
  • Take initiative in identifying and implementing process improvements to optimize communication system performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and interoperability of communication systems
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts during system/application related issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations
  • Display exceptional problem-solving skills to address customer problems quickly and efficiently, even in high-pressure situations
  • Foster positive relationships with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and successful project delivery.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance to ensure system functionality, with a focus on trend analysis and result documentation
  • Develop innovative solutions for challenging technical problems encountered during system implementation, upgrades, or support matters
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and troubleshooting methods
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales teams to design, implement, optimize, and transition advanced communication systems that meet or surpass customer expectations.
  • Must have knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks
  • Must have knowledge in standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, as well as knowledge of packet switching techniques
  • Must be highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Must have strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Motorola's customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams
  • Must be self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision
  • Must be able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations
  • Continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques
Candidate Requirements:
  • FCC license and industry certifications such as ETA are a plus.
  • Must be able to successfully pass and maintain the ability to pass background checks and obtain security clearances as well as possess and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to be on-call 24/7/365
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Basic Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience with one of the following: P25 Systems, LMR RF systems, wired/wireless communication systems, networking equipment, IT networks, Motorola equipment and/or subscriber equipment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract
