Utilizing Continuous Improvement principles support and direct the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility's (CFFF) Maintenance department staff (Mechanics, Electricians, Instrumentation Technicians, Fabrication and Installation craft persons) in a manner that supports safe and predictable production. Assure production goals and improvement projects are safely achieved within budget, per specification and within environmental control limitations.

Your day to day:

Support an excellent safety culture across the maintenance organization
  • Drive department compliance to the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility's (CFFF) Industrial, Radiological and Nuclear Safety Culture standards.
  • Reinforce desired behaviors and challenge the organization when areas of safety improvement are identified.
  • Provide organizational direction as required to support a positive employee culture, procedural adherence, employee development, equipment reliability, problem identification and resolution.
Provide organizational direction for continuous improvement of Manufacturing Equipment reliability by implementation of effective Maintenance techniques.
  • Promote an organizational culture of continuous improvement. Drive appropriate improvements in quality of maintenance and project implementation.
  • Ensure adherence with maintenance, production and quality control systems and procedures to maintain compliance with NRC licensing requirements and regulations, and CFFF's site requirements.
  • Direct maintenance and support organizations in use of the Corrective Action Program, Employee Development/Training, Human Performance Tools, Performance Management practices and other organizational improvement tools.
  • Develop strategic maintenance goals, personnel development strategies and sustainable business objectives.
Provide integrated resource plan for CFFF maintenance, personnel, equipment, and facilities
  • Optimize utilization of labor, materials and equipment to permit meeting all maintenance schedules on time, at the expected quality level and within budget, as aligned with manufacturing schedules.
  • Plan, develop and implement maintenance programs that are effective in reducing reactive maintenance and identifying areas that need solutions to reduce maintenance costs.
  • Manage Maintenance (including Fabrication and Installation) resources to meet work week and project delivery schedules.
  • Establish a resource pipeline that ensures sufficient qualified Maintenance staff is available and capable of supporting production and facility needs.
Drive financial performance, goal achievement, and continuous improvement on cost, etc.
  • Manage departmental budgets and expenditures. Ensure that funds committed for materials, labor and equipment are being utilized efficiently.
  • Track financial performance by monitoring budgets, contracts and other financial expenditures to ensure the department is meeting its financial commitments. Where need is identified initiate and drive cost control measures.
  • Drive identification and replacement of production and support equipment which is no longer cost effective to operate or maintain due to obsolescence or end-of-life issues.
Be accountable for adherence to government and licensing requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and organizational programs included but not limited to NRC, OSHA; EPA, DHEC, EEOC; Affirmative Action; State and Federal Environmental Agencies, etc
Provide effective leadership to ensure timely resolution of production or processing problems
  • Review and coach as needed performance of direct reports.
  • Drive an organizational culture that ensures staffs receive appropriate training and development to meet current job requirements and to prepare for future organizational needs.
  • Effectively align the Maintenance management team, department goals and performance objectives to meet the site's organizational goals.
What you need to be successful in this role:
  • BS/BA degree engineering, technical discipline, business or similar field
  • MBA or Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years in a prior manufacturing/heavy industrial work environment required.
  • Five years of previous management experience required.
  • Ten or more years of Industrial Maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ten or more years of previous management experience preferred
  • Six sigma green belt or above preferred
  • Project Management certification desirable
  • Extensive experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) necessary.
  • Ability to develop and manage departmental level performance to an effective set of valid key performance indicators required.
  • Ability to read, understand and implement work per complex logic-tied schedules required (Primavera P6 experience preferred).
  • Power BI software experience desirable.
