Westinghouse is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, well-organized individual to drive and contribute to the growth of BHI's Major Correctives Services Division within our Wind group. Experience with major component exchange (gearboxes, blades, main shafts, generators, rotors, hubs, etc), rigging/lifting equipment on GE turbines is preferred but not required. Knowledge and troubleshooting experience with GE ESS and non-ESS a plus. Experience as a Commissioner or Site Technician highly sought after. GE LOTO certified is a plus.

Essential Functions:
  • Above all else, ensure a strong commitment to safety as the number one core value.
  • This position will require travel 100% of the time.
  • Operate a vehicle safely and legally per BHI Employee handbook and insurance requirements.
  • Flagging cranes for heavy lifts; rotors, GBX assemblies, machine heads, blades.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults on wind turbines throughout the U.S.
  • Ability to climb turbines up to 120m height, with periods of work in extreme weather conditions
  • Have the commitment to work abnormal hours around wind windows; with a high possibility of night shifts.
  • Communicate with Site Supervisors and Team Leads frequently to understand challenges and support requirements to ensure success of the project within the assigned operational area.
  • Maintain certifications and attend additional training as required
  • Participate in and foster a safety conscious work environment.
  • Rotational position 6 weeks on, 1 week off.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience as a Wind Turbine Technician OR Commissioner preferred. Ability to troubleshoot GE turbines ESS and non-ESS a plus
  • Be able to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Capable of effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Can effectively communicate (both verbally and in written form) with all levels of management, supervision, and craft.
  • Capable of effectively managing own time and time of others.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be willing to travel as required.
  • Must be willing to work and climb heights.
  • Valid driver's license, good MVR record and satisfactory background and drug screening; (must be eligible to drive a rental vehicle)
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities.
  • Capable of troubleshooting complex mechanical and hydraulic failures on a variety of wind turbines components (Main shaft, gearboxes, generators, rotors, hubs, Blades...etc.).
  • Must be willing to assist with the coordination of labor and materials required for each project.
  • Capable of documenting and reporting of procedures and progress.
