Electrical Technician

Description:

This person will work with the Electrical Technology team and support ongoing ALS operations as a technologist. Some of this work could be R&D for upgrades or sustaining existing systems. Might also be matrixed out to other projects. The electronics technician position provides advanced technical support of a variety of electronics systems. Test, evaluate, troubleshoot, repair and maintain complex electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and systems with the use of technological skills, scientific principles and mathematics. Installation JD: Fabricate complex and highly specialized electronics apparatus that require advanced technical knowledge and expertise in manufacturing methods, tooling and equipment usage, circuit analysis, non-standard packaging and enclosures, and component and material selection. • Install large control, instrumentation and communication systems, which require thorough understanding and application of system integration principles. • In collaboration with engineers, designers, and electronics coordinators, design and develop complex printed prototype models for production which emphasize ease/cost of manufacturing, access for maintenance and calibration, and cost/technical performance optimization. • Design and fabricate specialized electronics packaging and enclosures, which require advanced expertise in metallic and non-metallic material forming techniques. • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) on any installation and fabrication tasks that are released from the Electronics Installation shop. Current ALS Shift: M-F, day shift 7:00-3:30
