Within our Department of Computational Medicine, you'll perform duties of Lab Assistant engaged in research into the mechanisms of head movement coding by the peripheral vestibular system. This position will have a fixed hybrid schedule, which requires some on-site work days each week.

Key Duties Include:
- Assisting in variety of laboratory procedures in cell biology and morphology including immunohistochemistry, quantitative image analysis, tract-tracing, and reconstruction.
- Assisting the PIs and postdoctoral investigators in basic behavioral testing, optical recording of synaptic activity, immunohistochemistry and microscopy, and surgical procedures.
- Maintain laboratory and laboratory records in compliance with all University regulations
- Performing inventory control, supply ordering, preparation of general laboratory solutions, and general laboratory maintenance.
Salary Range: $22.02 - $25.90 Hourly

Requirements:
- Ability to rigorously follow laboratory protocols.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to maintain an accurate laboratory notebook with documentation of experiments and results.
- Proficiency in performing general lab maintenance.
- Knowledge of regulations for proper animal care and euthanasia.
- Knowledge of safety measures in handling and disposal of laboratory waste.
- Working knowledge of major software applications including Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), graphics programs (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator), web search engines (e.g. PubMed), reference managers (Endnote) and e-mail (Outlook).
- Bachelor of Science in Biology, Neuroscience, or related with laboratory coursework.
- Skill in preparing standard laboratory solutions, buffers and histological reagents.
- Skill in preparing inner ear tissue specimens for investigations.
