Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented OSP Fiber Splicing Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cables in the outside plant environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with aerial, underground, and buried fiber networks and be comfortable working in various field conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform fiber optic splicing, including fusion and mechanical splicing.
- Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing to ensure signal integrity.
- Interpret and update fiber network documentation, including splicing diagrams and schematics.
- Install and maintain closures, terminals, and other fiber-related hardware.
- Troubleshoot and repair fiber outages, degradations, and other service-affecting issues.
- Work in compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other field technicians.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in fiber splicing and OSP construction.
- Proficiency with fiber testing equipment (OTDR, power meter, etc.).
- Strong understanding of fiber color codes, splicing techniques, and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and splice schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with both single-mode and multi-mode fiber.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to fiber installation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Capable of working in various weather conditions
