Environmental Health & Safety Specialist – Field Services


Job Description

The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist – Field Services is tasked with supporting and delivering robust Environmental, Health, and Safety programs. The role focuses on protecting employees from industrial, occupational, and environmental hazards while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The position involves conducting audits, training employees, and supporting EH&S initiatives across various field service sites, with approximately 50% travel required, primarily within New England.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the procurement of direct and indirect materials to support manufacturing and R&D operations.
  • Issue purchase orders and maintain accurate records in the ERP system.
  • Monitor supplier performance and delivery schedules to ensure timely receipt of goods.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to align purchasing activities with project timelines.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations and alternative sourcing.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and coordinate with Accounts Payable as needed.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Compliance with Environmental Health standards, OSHA 1910, NFPA.
  • Public speaking skills for safety training.
  • EPA regulations and waste handling expertise.
  • Experience working at field project sites, construction settings, or multi-work sites.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI general industry standards.
  • Ability to conduct site audits and inspections.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to train employees on EHS policies and procedures.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance (local, state, federal).
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and prioritize EH&S requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • BA/BS with 3–5+ years or MA/MS with 2–3+ years of experience.
  • Technical support and safety promotion at field sites.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Experience in developing and updating internal safety and environmental policies.
  • Ability to identify waste reduction opportunities and safety initiatives.

Work Environment

The work environment is 50% onsite and involves travel to field service sites, primarily in New England with occasional domestic travel to locations such as North Dakota and the Carolinas. The role involves cross-functional team collaboration within industrial and construction settings and operates in a fast-paced, compliance-driven atmosphere.
