Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Engineering Manager to oversee and coordinate the daily operations of our engineering team, ensuring that goals and objectives are met according to deadlines and priorities. You will lead and coordinate various engineering functions, including PFMEA, quality assurance, testing, production, and research and development of new and existing product lines. Serving as a project manager, you will create timelines and cost projections, organize collaborative meetings, and ensure projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets. Additionally, you will implement new launch projects, facilitate regular meetings, review work for technical accuracy, and establish, implement, and maintain administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate process and procedure development with the manufacturing department for new product development.
- Prepare and execute departmental budgets.
- Facilitate communication among clients/customers and engineers, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly understood.
- Maintain knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices to improve product lines and production efficiency.
Essential Skills
- Expertise in metal stamping, automotive program management, weld assembly, and lean manufacturing.
- Proficiency in engineering management, mechanical engineering, process improvement, CAD design, and design layout.
- Experience with transfer press, progressive die, and tandem press operations.
- Proficient in design, ED coat paint, and welding.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or a similar subject and/or 8-10 years of experience.
- Thorough understanding of engineering theory and design criteria.
- Design thinking and continual improvement mentality.
- Knowledge of Lean, Kanban, Six-Sigma, and/or PDCA Cycle.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software.
- General shop knowledge including drill press, milling machine, hand grinder, CNC, EDM, and PLC.
- Knowledge of Transfer, Progressive, and Tandem Presses ranging from 100-600 tons.
Work Environment
Our work environment is an automotive parts manufacturing facility where the majority of work occurs in a well-lit, ventilated, and air-conditioned space. The role involves prolonged sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, reaching, bending, handling, and use of tactile information. It requires motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination, with occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds. Employees may be exposed to various types of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and other agents utilized in the factory. Additionally, you will be required to support the Mexico plant with 2-4 visits a year. This position offers 1st shift hours with no weekend work, encouraging creative solutions and the opportunity to try new things.
