Job Title: Substation Engineer


Job Description

Are you passionate about shaping the future of power infrastructure? Join our team as a Substation Engineer and take the lead in designing and delivering high-impact substation projects from concept to energization.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations.
  • Support material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup through energization.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of substation projects, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of project engineers, designers, drafters, and support staff to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Uphold rigorous quality control standards to deliver best-in-class results.
  • Serve as the primary interface with clients and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with internal subject matter experts across disciplines such as Distribution & Transmission Studies, Grounding & Protection Systems, Civil & Transmission Engineering, SCADA Integration & Communications, Environmental Planning, Surveying, and Right-of-Way, and Project Controls and Management.
  • Provide technical mentorship and training to design staff, fostering growth and excellence across the team.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience within substation design engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of substation engineering, project management, and electrical engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Experience in design engineering is a plus.
  • Commitment to progress towards PE licensure is encouraged.
  • Fundamental knowledge of power engineering principles and applicable codes and standards.
