Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive support for various control systems, including Quantum and Momentum PLC hardware, SCADAs, and Siemens PCS7 systems. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and reliability of our control systems, while also leading upgrades and new installations.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for Quantum and Momentum PLC hardware and SCADAs, including remote IO using Modbus and Modbus+ network communications.
- Support GE iFIX control systems, including SCADA's, graphic design, and web services.
- Provide support for Siemens PCS7 hardware, software, and configuration, including OS server, OS client, web server, troubleshooting, remote IO, and Profibus network support.
- Identify and resolve issues related to control systems to ensure stable operations, including patches, software updates, and firmware updates.
- Lead and support control systems upgrade projects and the installation of new control systems from planning and design to installation and commissioning.
- Manage vendor service contracts and maintain critical spare parts inventory.
- Implement control strategies/programming for physical devices such as valves and pumps.
- Update network hierarchy, general arrangement, and other engineering drawings to reflect changes.
- Configure and design custom graphic displays and trends.
- Maintain system documentation and participate in the change management process related to control systems.
- Troubleshoot and provide support for system hardware, software, network, and instrument bus technologies.
- Provide specification information and commissioning support for instrumentation as needed.
- Support process hazard analysis (PHA) and participate in change management related to control systems.
- Implement projects as identified, requested, or needed.
- Provide support for Canary Historian.
- Experience in PLC programming, electrical engineering, and Siemens PLC.
- Proficiency with either Siemens or Modicon systems.
- Demonstrated programming experience.
- Ability to lead and support control systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Understanding of P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
- Understanding of electrical elementary and loop diagrams.
- 2+ years' experience programming DCS systems (Siemens PCS7, DeltaV, Rockwell, etc.).
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in industries such as petrochemical, pulp & paper, food & beverage, power generation, water/wastewater, or pharmaceuticals.
- Familiarity with DCS/SCADA platforms like Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, Yokogawa, or Siemens PCS7.
- Understanding of PSM-regulated environments or batch/continuous process automation.
