Job Title: Distribution Designer
Job Description
This role involves performing detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems. The responsibilities include preparing field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates. The candidate must possess the analytical competence to interact with a variety of individuals, including engineers and experienced distribution system designers.
Responsibilities
- Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
- Prepare field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates.
- Collaborate with engineers and other distribution system designers.
Essential Skills
- Experience working on CPS projects, specifically large or small commercial.
- High school diploma required.
- Understanding of distribution design, electrical design, and power distribution.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in electric utility or telecommunications field preferred.
- Familiarity with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) preferred.
- Knowledge of CAD software, with Microstation preferred, but AutoCAD or GIS is also acceptable.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering or a similar discipline is preferred.
- 3 phase underground certification from CPS is required.
- Proficient use of engineering software is preferred.
- Familiarity with underground design and three-phase systems is advantageous.
Work Environment
The position is onsite at the San Antonio office. The standard workweek is 40 hours, with the option for additional work paid at a flat rate per hour if chosen. The office environment is professional and collaborative.
