Overview

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to fill a critical role within our IT Infrastructure team. This position is primarily focused on advanced network support and integration (approximately 85%), with some involvement in network design (approximately 15%). While this is currently a short-term contract, we are actively working toward contract-to-hire approval.


Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the Network Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, implementing, and supporting our data, voice, and video network systems. This includes monitoring network performance, resolving issues, and ensuring a secure and reliable infrastructure that supports both internal operations and member-facing services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain enterprise networks supporting business and member services.
  • Collaborate across departments to enhance systems and resolve issues.
  • Contribute to network planning and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Document systems, changes, and testing procedures for new and existing technologies.

Technical Expertise

  • Design and engineer network solutions for data, voice, and video systems.
  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Deep understanding of routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, BGP.
  • Experience with LAN/WAN/MAN, ELAN, SD-WAN, Ethernet, and circuit technologies.
  • Support and troubleshoot Cisco voice systems, including Call Manager and Contact Express.
  • Manage video conferencing systems (Cisco Spark/Webex) and collaboration tools.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and security standards.

Decision-Making & Leadership

  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement secure, scalable solutions.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage timelines effectively.
  • Maintain confidentiality and act with integrity in all responsibilities.
  • Serve as a mentor to the Network Administrator, providing guidance and support.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant network engineering experience.
  • Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP) strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise networking technologies.
  • Proficiency in Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and gateways.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to document and improve repeatable processes.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights/weekends if needed.
  • Must be bondable.
