This role involves performing various hardware and electrical engineering tasks, including hardware and system design. The engineer will complete engineering assignments of moderately broad scope under general direction, supporting and/or leading projects by developing new or using off-the-shelf technology.
Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for all engineering project work and delegate or coordinate sub-tasks to other functions.
- Take lead responsibility and/or participate on engineering teams to perform firmware engineering work within time, quality, and cost constraints for microprocessor and/or system control functionality.
- Design, code, and implement algorithms which enable the hardware to function, incorporating product and manufacturing requirements into firmware design.
- Integrate firmware with the hardware boards.
- Bring-up, test, write, debug, and integrate new device drivers, protocols, and other firmware code across embedded products using hardware and software techniques.
- Prepare and create instructional technical manuscripts for firmware operation along with other necessary documentation (e.g., flow charts, logic diagrams, and system-level structure diagrams).
- Plan, improve, and manage software applications from inception to use.
- Design detailed plans to ensure firmware is functioning properly.

- Ability to read and use measuring devices.
- Ability to use electrical assembly tools.
- Ability to write embedded software (C and/or C++).
- Ability to layout PCB components per design using electronic design automation (EDA) software.
- Capable of using accepted formulas and manuals in making necessary computations to determine load capacities, strengths, etc.
- Ability to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required by company policy for the job being performed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in product certification in UL and EN/IEC product safety standards is a plus.
- Experience in product evaluation to EMC/EMI standards is a plus.
Work Environment
