Job Title: Mechatronics Technician


Job Description

Working under minimal supervision, the Mechatronics Technician installs, services, and repairs manufacturing equipment. This role requires troubleshooting and technical expertise on complex electrical and mechanical equipment and control systems. The technician will be responsible for assigned projects and developmental projects, providing engineering and plant maintenance support. The position involves making advanced repairs and adjustments to mechanical and electrical devices, as well as troubleshooting issues related to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.


Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, service, and repair of manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical expertise on electrical/mechanical equipment and control systems.
  • Manage assigned and developmental engineering projects and provide plant maintenance support.
  • Conduct advanced repairs and adjustments to mechanical and electrical devices.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
  • Work on equipment involving mechanical and hydraulic brake and clutch systems.
  • Install, repair, and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical/electrical aptitude and knowledge of machine components, electronic circuits, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to update electrical schematics using AutoCAD software.
  • Skill in using a PLC to troubleshoot machine issues and improve machine performance.
  • Capability to perform electrical and mechanical preventative maintenance on facility equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards including OSHA.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Welding and fabrication ability using arc, MIG, and TIG welding equipment.
  • Ability to work in elevated positions using lifts.
  • High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs and carrying up to 55 lbs.
  • Capability to read blueprints and use measuring tools like calipers and fixtures.
  • Ability to visually inspect for defects and ensure parts meet quality specifications.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing environment, specifically in the production of high-end office furniture. The position requires work on the second shift starting at 3pm and the third shift starting at 10pm. The work involves standing constantly and frequent bending and twisting, adhering to safety standards.
