CNC Machinist

Location: Athens, Alabama

We are hiring a CNC Machinist to join a manufacturing company focused on precision, quality, and consistency. This role is ideal for a machinist who values clean, detailed work and wants to be part of an industry that directly supports patient care and medical innovation.

Position Overview

The CNC Machinist role is situated within a manufacturing plant environment with a typically moderate noise level. This position will begin with paid training on day shift before transitioning to second shift. The company offers multiple shift options and opportunities for long-term stability.

What You’ll Do

  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines (mills and/or lathes) producing medical device components
  • Load raw materials and tooling, make offsets, and perform tool changes as needed
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and quality requirements
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools
  • Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards required for medical manufacturing
  • Follow safety, quality, and clean manufacturing procedures

Training & Shifts

  • Training Period:
    • Day shift for 2–3 months
    • Hours: 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday
  • Second Shift (After Training):
    • Hours: 4:30 p.m. – 3:30 a.m.
    • Includes a shift differential
  • Weekend Shift Options (Available):
    • Day: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
    • Night: 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
    • Both weekend shifts offer 40 hours of pay

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant setting
  • Moderate noise level
  • Clean, organized environment typical of medical device production

Qualifications

  • CNC machining experience preferred (medical device experience is a plus)
  • Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Reliable work history and ability to work assigned shifts

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $42.00/hr.
