We are seeking a strong leader with executive-level skills to participate extensively in work acquisition processes, define and develop project budgets and schedules that achieve profitability objectives, and manage the pre-construction, preplanning, and construction project scheduling process. This role requires leveraging strong relationships with general contractors and owners, thorough knowledge of contracts, and providing leadership in business judgment and all financial aspects of projects.
Responsibilities- Define and develop project budgets and schedules to meet profitability objectives.
- Manage pre-construction, preplanning, and construction scheduling processes.
- Leverage relationships with general contractors and owners to grow the business.
- Provide leadership in business judgment and financial aspects of projects.
- Set milestones and assign qualified staff to handle project scope and complexity.
- Lead and consult with field project managers, general contractors, and owners.
- Nurture successful relationships to ensure project success.
- Subcontract to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
- Take ownership and accountability for project direction.
- Solve complex problems related to project schedules and budgets.
- Supervise contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and schedules.
- Review and approve project budgets to determine resource allocation.
- Negotiate and create subcontractor contracts with external vendors.
- Manage project finances, including profitability and cash flow.
- Provide indirect leadership to construction crews.
- Involve in design conflict resolution and collaborate with engineers and architects.
- Lead strategic planning, project submittals, requests for information, and change order processes.
- Implement monthly cost reports and accurate cost projections.
- Recognize and resubmit change orders as necessary.
- Approve payment for supplier and subcontractor invoices.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and report issues.
- Project, identify, and manage CAD, fabrication, and field labor resources.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Consistent dependability and availability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction office environment.
- Organize and curate documents related to work orders and personnel.
- Aptitude to learn new systems.
- Mechanical knowledge and project management skills.
- Ability to prepare a SWOT analysis for projects.
- Experience with Bluebeam software and Procore Management programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field preferred.
- 10+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10-15 years of experience leading large, multi-million-dollar complex construction projects.
- 7-10 years of experience leading a team, including project engineers, project managers, and support staff.
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures, material, and project management principles.
This position requires working on-site in a job trailer with a team, Monday to Friday for 10-hour days, with some weekends required based on project ebbs and flows. When there is project downtime, the focus will be on building relationships and business development activities. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $135000.00 - $175000.00/yr.
