Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer


Job Description

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating electrical systems and equipment. Your work will involve electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for electrical and electronic equipment, as well as other hardware systems found in industrial plants and applications. You will be working with systems and equipment in nuclear power plants, commercial and government nuclear fuel processing plants, chemical plants, refineries, and power plants. Familiarity and experience with NQA-1, 10CFR50, and 10CFR21 standards are advantageous.


Responsibilities

  • Determine design approaches and parameters.
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
  • Review vendor capability to support product development.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments.
  • Apply principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals.
  • Work on complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Plan and accomplish goals using extensive experience and judgment.
  • Exercise creativity and latitude in determining methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
  • Supervise the activities of others as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in electrical systems design and reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in big power/electrical systems.
  • Ability to size cabling and wiring.
  • Experience taking designs to the manufacturing floor.
  • Interdisciplinary interaction skills.
  • Proficiency in reporting, calculations, presentations, ETAP, electrical analysis packages, and ArcFlash.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • PE license.
  • Experience with transformers, power plants, and chemical plants.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79 standards.
  • Familiarity with UL-508A standard.

Work Environment

The position is onsite in Huntsville, AL, within a manufacturing environment. There is no option for remote work.
