About the Role

TEKsystems is seeking a motivated Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our service team. This is not an installation role—we are looking for a dependable self‑starter with strong customer‑service skills who enjoys troubleshooting, inspecting, and servicing fire alarm systems. This opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to grow their technical skills while working in the life‑safety industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, test, inspect, and service fire alarm systems in various facility types.
• Perform on‑site verification of fire alarm installations to ensure compliance and system integrity.
• Read, interpret, and work from fire alarm drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and document fire alarm deficiencies.
• Interact professionally with customers and represent TEKsystems in a customer‑facing environment.

Required Skills

• Experience with Cat5 and Cat6 cabling
• Fire alarm service or troubleshooting experience (entry-level candidates welcome)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

Additional Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and general computer literacy.
• Ability to work in harsh environments, including varying weather, dusty areas, and active construction sites.
• Comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders as needed.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel between customer sites daily.
• Previous trade school experience and looking to grow in a new career
• Strong communication, organization, and customer‑service skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irondale, AL.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
