Job Title: Health and Safety Specialist
Job Description
As a Health and Safety Specialist, you will play a vital role in creating and maintaining a culture of awareness, acceptance, and adherence to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements within the organization. You will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving potential risks and hazards, while developing and implementing comprehensive safety programs.
Responsibilities
- Model exemplary adherence to all EHS requirements to foster a culture of compliance.
- Develop, coordinate, implement, and maintain Health, Safety, Environmental, Industrial, and Process Safety Programs.
- Conduct facility inspections to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Schedule routine inspections and implement training based on findings.
- Audit, analyze, and collate EHS performance data to propose effective improvements.
- Perform facility audits, surveys, and inspections to identify environmental and occupational hazards, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to ensure safe material handling.
- Meet KPI requirements proactively to reduce exposure and control risk.
- Recommend and implement new green processes, collaborating with regulatory and corporate compliance.
- Lead safety and hazard assessments, including Process Hazard Analysis and Job Safety Analysis.
- Attend training and seminars and deliver training to staff in EHS/HSE/SHE skills.
- Manage the Workers Compensation program effectively.
- Track compliance with Federal, State, and Local environmental requirements.
- Lead Safety Team and Waste Minimization Team programs to enhance EHS performance.
- Prepare, submit, and document all EPA and OSHA requirements, including hazardous waste management.
- Develop and implement training for all personnel to ensure understanding and compliance with EH&S programs and environmental permit conditions.
- Oversee chemical and hazardous waste management, including transportation.
- Support and manage the EHS budget, ensuring timely review of related invoices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ISO and OHSAS implementation and certification.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, TS standards.
- Understanding of OSHA and EPA compliance standards.
- Familiarity with storm water/wastewater, RCRA, PSM/RMP, Title V, CAA, CWA, Form R, and Air Emissions reporting.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and HAZWOPER requirements.
- Experience in risk management, ergonomics, PPE, industrial safety, injury and incident investigation, reporting, auditing, and training.
