Pharmacy Technician (Compounding)
We’re seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support sterile compounding, hazardous drug preparation, and inventory control in a hospital pharmacy setting.
Job Summary
- Prepare and dispense IV hazardous and non‑hazardous medications using proper PPE and following USP <797>/<800>.
- Use and help evaluate CSTDs for hazardous drug compounding.
- Complete required training on hazardous drug handling, storage, disposal, exposure response, and spill control (with documented annual competency).
- Assist with CADD pump prep and investigational drug inventory, records, and product preparation.
- Reduce waste through dose rounding compliance and coordinated scheduling.
- Support daily purchasing, vendor communication, and GPO activities.
- Maintain inventory control, minimize expired items, manage high‑cost medications, and follow special receiving procedures for hazardous products.
- Contribute to drug shortage management and research alternatives.
- Use IT systems to improve workflow and generate department reports.
- Monitor equipment and storage areas per SOPs.
Requirements
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.
- Strong understanding of USP <797>/<800>.
- Hazardous compounding experience preferred.
- Training may come from on‑the‑job, accredited programs, or employer-based learning.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mountain Brk, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
