Position Summary...
We are seeking a dynamic Director to lead payer initiatives across Walmart's Optical providers and our business units that participate in value based arrangements (Optical, Pharmacy, and Clinical Services) while focusing on payer reimbursement strategies, appropriate payer mix, payer contracting, payer partnerships and front-line associate support. This leadership role will drive growth by managing existing payer partnerships, identifying new opportunities, understanding optical payer benefit plans and their financial impact, managing high-impact implementations, and overseeing cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence and business success. What you'll do...
  • Develop and execute payer contracting strategies to ensure patient access, removing barriers and aligning with Walmart's business goals.
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with senior executives and key decision-makers across commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and government payers.
  • Lead negotiation and re-negotiation of payer contracts, oversee implementation, and drive process improvements for efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate across Health & Wellness teams, including operations, marketing, legal, and government relations, to support business objectives and payer strategies.
  • Analyze payer performance, market trends, and reimbursement models to shape strategic business plans and measure outcomes for success.
About the team:

The Payer Programs team is part of the broader Payer Relations team that supports the Health and Wellness business unit. Payer Programs works collaboratively with optical and medical payers as well as vendors on value-based and payer contracting opportunities that deliver high-quality, cost-effective care that improves patient health.

What you'll bring:
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully negotiating contracts and streamlining post-implementation processes to maximize efficiency and maintain payer satisfaction.
  • Strong leaderships skills in managing large-scale, cross-functional implementations with a focus on optimizing processes, budget control, and meeting defined objectives.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute health and wellness strategies that result in measurable financial and operational outcomes.
  • Expertise in navigating complex Optical payer relationships, driving strategic partnerships and long-term growth.
  • Analytical skill set for evaluating ROI, pricing strategies, and market opportunities, with the ability to quickly adapt and develop actionable plans.
  • Ability to inspire and lead a diverse team, fostering collaboration and driving performance to achieve organizational goals.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor's degree business, finance, accounting, economics, or related area with 7 years' experience in managed care contracting/negotiations, healthcare billing, healthcare finance, or healthcare compliance/legal; or Ten years of relevant experience in managed care contracting/negotiations, healthcare billing, healthcare finance, or healthcare compliance/legal.
Demonstrated experience in payer negotiations or relationship management; must be able to speak to concrete experiences and positive outcomes.
Well-developed understanding of healthcare financing, revenue cycle processes and care delivery.
Previous supervisory experience.
Proficiency with all Microsoft tools.
