Job Description
The Maintenance Electrician serves as the primary on-site electrician in a manufacturing facility, responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment, including PLCs, conveyors, motors, and drives. This role focuses heavily on troubleshooting PLCs using ladder logic, working with higher-voltage electrical systems, and ensuring the reliable and safe operation of all electrical components that support manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on PLC-controlled equipment, conveyors, motors, and drives to minimize downtime and maintain efficient production.
- Troubleshoot PLCs primarily using ladder logic, with a strong focus on Allen-Bradley systems and some Siemens PLCs.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues involving 3-phase motors, AC and DC drives, and higher-voltage equipment at 480V and above.
- Inspect, test, and repair electrical components and wiring to ensure safe and reliable operation of all machinery.
- Identify root causes of electrical failures and implement effective long-term solutions.
- Work independently as the only electrician on site, prioritizing tasks and managing workload with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with production schedules.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and any changes made to PLCs or electrical systems.
- Follow all safety procedures and electrical codes while working on energized and de-energized equipment.
- Proactively monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of industrial electrical experience.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs using ladder logic.
- Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs; exposure to Siemens PLCs.
- Ability to work safely with higher-voltage equipment at 480V and above.
- Strong knowledge of 3-phase motors and their applications in industrial machinery.
- Experience with AC and DC drives, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Solid understanding of electrical maintenance practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently as the sole on-site electrician and make sound technical decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex electrical issues.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and electrical standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience programming PLCs in addition to troubleshooting is a plus.
- Familiarity with both Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with production and maintenance teams.
- Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to be counted on in a minimally supervised environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
