I. Job Summary

WM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Designated Technician Trainer to support their designated Area. This pivotal role combines advanced technical expertise with a passion for teaching and mentoring. The ideal candidate will play a crucial part in enhancing the skills and knowledge of our technician workforce, ultimately contributing to the operational excellence of our organization. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive on-site training for technicians across the Area, ensuring the highest standards of technical proficiency and safety.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in engine rebuilds and electrical systems, providing advanced technical guidance and support.
  • Deliver, assess, and coach designated training curricula as determined by leadership and training teams, adapting content to meet evolving organizational needs.
  • Complete final evaluations and conduct in-depth coaching sessions to determine participants' course outcomes, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Lead and mentor the train-the-trainer process for new technicians, cultivating a culture of knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Conduct Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions for new or updated courses at the Training Center, ensuring consistent and high-quality instruction across the organization.
  • Travel to various locations to attend training on new systems and technologies, staying at the forefront of industry advancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine training materials and methodologies, continuously improving the learning experience for all technicians.
III. Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Required Qualifications
  • 5 years as a technician, demonstrating a strong track record of technical excellence
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located
  • Valid Driver's license
B. Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • (CDL)-Class B Valid CDL. If a CDL is required, must be 21 years of age.
  • Certification from a technical school or vocational training program in automotive technology or a related field.
  • Valid Journeyman certificate in one of the following trades; Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (BC, NU, SK), Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Construction) (QC), Valid Journeyman certificate in one of the following trades; Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (BC, NU, SK), Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Construction) (QC), Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Non-Construction) (QC), Heavy Equipment Service Technician (NB), Heavy Equipment Technician (NT), Heavy Equipment Technician - Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Off Road) (AB) Heavy Equipment Technician (AB), Heavy Equipment Technician - Truck and Transport Mechanic (AB), Truck and Transport Mechanic (SK, MB) Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic (BC), Heavy Equipment Technician - Truck and Transport Mechanic (NT), Truck and Coach Technician (ON), Truck and Transport Service Technician (NB), Truck and Transport Technician (YT)
  • Certificate in electrical diagnostics
  • Applicable Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications
IV. Physical Demand/ Work Environment

  • Required to exert physical effort that will include but is not limited to frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing; Constantly standing, walking, and grasping; Occasionally: sitting and balancing

  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often;
  • This job operates in both inside garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
