Construction Design Department Manager - Phoenix, AZ

We are hiring a Design Department Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers responsible for building the largest and most advanced semiconductor facilities in the United States. Your leadership will be pivotal in managing complex design projects and ensuring seamless collaboration with construction teams to drive the development of cutting-edge technology. Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a large, multidisciplinary team of engineers and design professionals working on advanced semiconductor facilities.
  • Orchestrate complex design and construction projects, ensuring integration between design and construction teams across functional areas.
  • Manage and oversee design activities from initial basis-of-design through the permitting process with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Coordinate with the construction team to address pre-construction and construction issues and drive commissioning activities.
  • Develop and maintain company's ecosystem of construction partners, EORs, AORs, vendors, suppliers, and design partners.
  • Identify and resolve critical path bottlenecks to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Optimize project budgets and timelines through cost management and value engineering efforts.
  • Implement safety and quality programs in collaboration with construction partners to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Drive long lead equipment requirements and awards in coordination with procurement teams.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering - Will accept Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical.
  • 10+ years proven expertise in managing complex engineering projects.
  • Experience in mechanical, electrical, gas, process, and chemical scopes.
  • Experience leading construction projects on a megaproject scale ($1B+).
  • Experience supporting semiconductor construction projects and/or systems.
  • Experience interfacing between and leading Construction & Design teams.
  • Knowledge of commissioning processes and AHJ inspection protocols.
  • Familiarity with local AHJs and code reviewers.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to communicate, present, listen, and lead effectively.
  • Ability to travel and navigate active construction sites.

Work Environment

The work environment is located at an ongoing semiconductor site in Phoenix, Arizona. This facility hosts millions of workers and requires on-site presence. The role involves walking, standing, and occasional lifting, providing a dynamic and engaging setting for professionals in the field. The position entails overseeing a large team and collaborating closely with design and construction professionals.

Compensation

  • Target salary is $150,000/year to $200,000/year, but this is flexible depending on candidate situation and experience.
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates in any part of the United States.
  • Additional bonuses available for this role.
  • Competitive benefits available.
