Medical Assistant – Orthopedic Clinic


Location: DTWN PHX


Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic practice, which operates across two locations in Glendale and Downtown Phoenix. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering a dynamic clinical environment, a collaborative team of 14 medical assistants, and a consistent weekday schedule. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both front and back office duties and supporting orthopedic care, including casting and splinting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic patient care and assist with treatments
  • Obtain and document vital signs and chief complaints
  • Alert physicians to any patient concerns or abnormalities
  • Gather patient history and support clinical staff during exams
  • Prepare exam and procedure rooms, including instruments for minor procedures
  • Collect lab specimens and complete requisitions accurately
  • Function independently as a Medical Assistant II, coordinating MA workflow
  • Obtain referral authorizations in smaller clinic settings
  • Perform front desk duties including registration, check-in, and scheduling

Essential Skills:

  • Medical assisting and patient intake
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) management
  • Casting and splinting experience
  • Experience with EMRs and patient scheduling systems

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or U.S. Armed Forces medical services training
  • MA diploma (certification/registration preferred but not required)
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience
  • At least 1 year of casting/splinting experience
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Proficiency with computer systems for patient check-in and scheduling

Work Environment:

This role is based in an orthopedic clinic with a strong team culture and supportive leadership. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 7:30 AM. You’ll work three days per week at the Westgate campus in Glendale and two days at the St. Joe's campus in Downtown Phoenix. Monday through Thursday shifts may vary between 8–9 hours depending on physician schedules, and Friday shifts are either 7:30 AM–1 PM or 11:30 AM–5 PM.
