Job Title: Controls Engineer


Job Description

As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for completing conveyor upgrade and system integration projects. You will develop, create, test, implement, and commission PLC programs for conveyor systems. Your role involves initial code development conforming to established in-house programming and field commissioning standards.


Responsibilities

  • Comply with customer specifications on each project for system control and monitoring.
  • Conduct testing, complete field testing documentation, and perform field commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Prepare detailed and fully annotated PLC programs that comply with system design drawings and project specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Fully test and document testing procedures for all programs and software developed.
  • Fill all commissioning documents for L1 and L2 commissioning.
  • Participate in field commissioning and testing of assigned projects, working within a team to deploy and turn-over completed, tested systems to customers.
  • Travel to job sites as required for commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, customers, and others to discuss and understand project specifications, scope, and design requirements.

Essential Skills

  • PLC programming
  • Controls engineering
  • Commissioning
  • Experience with ControlLogix
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • 2-5 years of relevant Controls Engineering experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with RSLogix
  • Knowledge of Industrial Control Networks
  • Ethernet/IP communications
  • Material handling equipment
  • Experience with Allen Bradley and HMI

Work Environment

The position will initially support a UPS site through 2025, after which you will be expected to travel up to 75% to support other project sites.
