Job Description
An immediate opportunity has arisen for a Safety Director due to organizational growth. This role involves overseeing safety protocols and compliance across multiple construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Support multiple construction projects through design, build, and commissioning.
- Provide field safety oversight of work activities on construction sites and future state facilities.
- Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal health and safety regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, plans, and procedures related to construction safety.
- Conduct and oversee contractor safety reviews and prerequisite processes for site access.
- Collaborate on equipment safety transfer of risk processes for current and upcoming projects.
- Facilitate strong communication between all organizations.
- Assist in creating and standardizing policies to minimize job-related hazards.
- Ensure adherence to contractor management EHS protocols and procedures for all affected contractors.
- Lead and document incident investigations to determine RCCA outcomes.
- Review hazard analysis programs and utilize JHA/PTP tools.
- Perform frequent job-site safety inspections, procedural audits, and take immediate action where necessary.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience managing a safety program.
- Experience managing safety programs for transmission or substation projects.
- CHST certification.
- CUSP Certification.
- OSHA 500 certification.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in heavy civil projects is a strong asset.
- NFPA70 certification.
Work Environment
The position involves a split between office and field work, with approximately 60% of the time spent in the office and 40% in the field. The role covers areas in Phoenix, Houston, and Chicago, requiring travel to these offices at least once a month. The successful candidate can primarily sit out of any of these three offices. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided. Collaboration with safety leads and managers in Houston and Chicago is expected, and the team includes 10-12 Safety Specialists.
