Job Title: Safety Director


Job Description

An immediate opportunity has arisen for a Safety Director due to organizational growth. This role involves overseeing safety protocols and compliance across multiple construction projects.


Responsibilities

  • Support multiple construction projects through design, build, and commissioning.
  • Provide field safety oversight of work activities on construction sites and future state facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal health and safety regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, plans, and procedures related to construction safety.
  • Conduct and oversee contractor safety reviews and prerequisite processes for site access.
  • Collaborate on equipment safety transfer of risk processes for current and upcoming projects.
  • Facilitate strong communication between all organizations.
  • Assist in creating and standardizing policies to minimize job-related hazards.
  • Ensure adherence to contractor management EHS protocols and procedures for all affected contractors.
  • Lead and document incident investigations to determine RCCA outcomes.
  • Review hazard analysis programs and utilize JHA/PTP tools.
  • Perform frequent job-site safety inspections, procedural audits, and take immediate action where necessary.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience managing a safety program.
  • Experience managing safety programs for transmission or substation projects.
  • CHST certification.
  • CUSP Certification.
  • OSHA 500 certification.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy civil projects is a strong asset.
  • NFPA70 certification.

Work Environment

The position involves a split between office and field work, with approximately 60% of the time spent in the office and 40% in the field. The role covers areas in Phoenix, Houston, and Chicago, requiring travel to these offices at least once a month. The successful candidate can primarily sit out of any of these three offices. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided. Collaboration with safety leads and managers in Houston and Chicago is expected, and the team includes 10-12 Safety Specialists.
