Job Title: Assistant Project Manager


Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our team. This role involves transforming client requirements into actionable plans, preparing and scheduling projects, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and legal standards. The successful candidate will effectively communicate and collaborate with project managers and construction personnel to meet project milestones and deadlines.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned projects.
  • Review and submit materials and equipment as required by the client's engineer.
  • Create RFIs based on plan and specification analysis along with field input.
  • Ensure health, safety, and legal requirements are met throughout assigned projects.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with project managers, construction managers, and craft personnel to meet project requirements.
  • Assure that all milestones and deadlines are met on a project level.
  • Conduct regular meetings to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
  • Conduct safety audits regularly to meet company safety objectives.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects encompassing civil, electrical, and building construction.
  • Civil construction experience, especially in water and highway projects.
  • Commitment to providing a safe work environment and taking initiative to stop unsafe acts.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to divide time across multiple projects.
  • Ability to think big picture and understand long-term implications of actions.
  • Passion for improving individual and company performance.
  • Commitment to exceeding customer expectations and finding solutions for project challenges.
  • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications.
  • Capable of performing detailed quantity take-offs for change orders, estimates, and material orders.
  • Ability to create and update CPM project schedules in Microsoft Project.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Substation experience is nice to have; training will be provided otherwise.

Work Environment

The role involves working outside on distribution power line projects alongside union employees such as linemen, foremen, and superintendents. Travel requirements range from 25-75%, primarily within the Phoenix area, with some travel to Tucson and Yuma. The first six months will be based in the Phoenix office for onboarding and training. Subsequent travel will depend on project needs.
