Job Title: Staff Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Engineer with a strong background in mentorship and a commitment to enforcing best coding practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing tools and templates to improve processes and scaling our platform to accommodate a significant increase in load while maintaining uninterrupted service.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
- Advocate for and enforce best coding practices.
- Develop tools and templates for process improvements.
- Scale the platform to handle a 1,000-fold increase in load while maintaining 100% uptime over the next few years.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a Staff Software Engineer, with a total of 7 years in software engineering.
- Proficiency in Golang or JavaScript, with experience in multi-thread concurrent language coding.
- Strong experience with microservices, including demonstrated examples in a microservices environment.
- Proficient in API design and implementation.
- Mastery of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), SOLID principles, TDD/BDD, and clean code/architecture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Over 10 years of experience in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), with at least 3 years at the staff engineer level or higher.
- 5 or more years of experience with modern technologies such as GoLang, JavaScript, GraphQL, gRPC, microservices, and NoSQL.
- 10 or more years of experience applying cloud development patterns and best practices.
- 7 or more years of experience with cloud-based architecture and automated release pipelines.
- 7 or more years of expertise in an API-first approach with loosely coupled systems and domain-driven design.
- Experience in managing and planning technical debt.
- Strong focus on quality code and various testing approaches.
Work Environment
The role requires being in the office four days a week, with one day of remote work from home. The work-from-home day is flexible and can be chosen by the employee, depending on who is in the office and project load. Currently, there is no flexibility beyond this arrangement.
