Job Title: Quality Inspector

Location: Mesa, AZ

Pay: $30 - $37/hr

Job Description

The primary focus of this role is to apply inspection standards, principles, and techniques to examine, evaluate, and report on the quality of various aircraft components, including engines and avionics, in accordance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements. The Quality Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and safety of the aircraft and its components.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections as scheduled, ensuring that the quality of workmanship meets industry standards and complies with Manufacturing (MFG) Work Instructions.
  • Conduct preliminary, in-progress, and final inspections on all processed articles.
  • Ensure that MFG records, work order reports, and forms are accurately completed before releasing components or vehicles for service.
  • Inspect for defects, damage, proper identification, and dimensions using measuring devices.
  • Document complex processes, input data, and inspection results accurately.
  • Utilize inspection methods, techniques, and equipment to determine quality or airworthiness in alignment with safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering, management, and production personnel regarding product acceptance criteria and inspection results.
  • Generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Non-Routine Items (NRIs) as required.
  • Perform receiving inspection duties for all incoming materials.
  • Oversee the proper tagging and identification of all parts and components to ensure rejected or non-repairable parts are correctly marked, quarantined, and rendered unusable.
  • Conduct work to enhance health and safety, product safety, and promote risk reduction.
  • Participate in safety-related event investigations and report workplace hazards promptly.
  • Contribute to the success of the Safety program at the local level.
  • Continuously practice safety behavior and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) awareness/prevention.
  • Conduct technical investigations to support quality processes and Root Cause Corrective Action activities.
  • Adhere to directions from team leaders to support collaboration across teams for project completion.
  • Work on moderately difficult quality control assignments, resolving issues or making recommendations as needed.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency of installations, including troubleshooting and providing guidance in troubleshooting processes and concepts.
  • Collaborate effectively to achieve goals and complete assigned tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in aerospace parts and components, including manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), or airline environments with emphasis on prototype aircraft.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and relevant aerospace industry standards and regulations.
  • Understanding of inspection techniques and quality issues in manufacturing, logistics, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience with nonconforming material control processes.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for following manufacturing work instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and models.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on inspection experience in the aerospace industry using precision measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of quality control practices and willingness to learn new spacecraft quality techniques.
  • Ability to collaborate on quality inspection projects with technicians and interdepartmental functions.

Work Environment

The role is based in an aircraft hangar with temperature control, though humidity levels may be higher due to the nature of the aircraft parts. The position offers a 4/10 schedule with options for day or night shifts from Monday to Thursday, and a potential for overtime. The contract is for six months with the potential to become permanent, based on performance, attitude, and attendance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
