Job Title: Industrial Electrician
Job Description
The Industrial Electrician plays a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing electrical systems within a dynamic food manufacturing facility. This position ensures that production runs safely and efficiently, working directly with equipment, controls, and plant utilities while adhering to strict food safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems including motors, control panels, sensors, and lighting.
- Perform routine electrical maintenance to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
- Install and upgrade wiring, conduit, and distribution systems in compliance with NEC standards.
- Support production equipment such as conveyors, fillers, labelers, packaging machines, and food-processing systems, handling 240v & 480v.
- Work with and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), VFDs, HMIs, and other automation controls.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Complete work orders and documentation in a CMMS.
- Follow GMPs, food-safety protocols, and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Production teams to reduce unplanned downtime and support continuous improvement.
- Participate in safety audits, RCAs, and corrective-action processes.
- Available for weekends and overtime as needed.
Essential Skills
- Electrical maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid electrician license.
- Experience with 480V systems.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical equipment.
- Journeyman Electrician qualification.
- Ability to troubleshoot conveyor belts and systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of industrial electrical experience, including troubleshooting and installing 480V three-phase systems, motors, controls, and production equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, and sanitary design.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working around machinery, water, and food-production lines.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred electrical apprenticeship or technical training.
- State electrical certification or Journeyman card (California General Electrician preferred).
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, servo drives, and SCADA.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.

Work Environment
The work environment is a food manufacturing setting with exposure to moving machinery and noise. Employees will encounter variable temperatures, humidity, moisture, and liquids, as well as strong odors and fumes from ingredients. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, and work may involve standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. The role may involve working at heights or in confined spaces, utilizing lifts, platforms, or worker cages.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of American Canyon, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
