Job Description
We are seeking a diligent Staff Accountant to manage essential financial functions within our organization. This role involves handling both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable operations, representing 40% of the job. You will be responsible for managing the corporate credit card program, cash management, month-end journal entries, financial reporting, tax filing, payroll accounting, assisting with audits, and supporting budget preparations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Accounts Receivable functions, including invoicing and collections.
- Manage Accounts Payable functions such as AP invoice processing and cash disbursements through checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
- Administer the company's corporate credit card program, including expense reporting and recording to the general ledger.
- Conduct daily cash management, including cash projections, bank account transfers, and reconciliations.
- Prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Compile month-end financial reporting and other monthly reports.
- Execute finance and accounting projects as needed.
- File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies, including 1099s, property tax, GST/HST tax, and sales tax returns.
- Handle payroll accounting responsibilities, including journal entries and related filings.
- Collaborate with external auditors/accountants for year-end audits and tax returns.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and quarterly updates.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPS.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in bookkeeping with experience in AP/AR, reconciliation, and journal entries.
- Preferred experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Credit card administration and treasury management experience.
- Experience with high transaction volumes on credit cards.
- Ability to manage minimal collections involving internal communications.
- Strong analytical skills for month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP.
