Job Description
The Finisher completes high-quality parts to the finish level specified by customers, ensuring all components meet defined standards for appearance, function, and accuracy. This role involves reading and following detailed job instructions, comparing finished parts to drawings and job sheets, and using a variety of hand tools and finishing techniques to remove powder, deburr, seal, and prepare parts. The Finisher works within a prototype and mass production manufacturing environment, contributing to on-time delivery while maintaining a safe, clean, and positive workspace.
Responsibilities
- Perform work instructions exactly as detailed in the job sheet and related documentation.
- Compare finished parts to job sheets and drawings to verify features, basic measurements, and insert locations.
- Visually inspect parts for defects and overall quality, ensuring they meet customer specifications.
- Remove powder and hand-finish individual parts to achieve the required surface and dimensional finish.
- Use various hand tools, media blasters, sandblasters, and finishing techniques to meet the customer’s quality standards.
- Perform basic additional customer requirements such as inserting components, part sealing, and part bonding after appropriate training.
- Reject any part that cannot be repaired to meet the customer’s needs and document issues as required.
- Notify the supervisor of any questionable materials, defects, or nonconforming conditions identified during finishing or inspection.
- Log work times and activities accurately on the build traveler or other production records.
- Follow all safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and help maintain a safe work environment.
- Promote a positive work environment by collaborating effectively with team members and supporting shared goals.
- Maintain good housekeeping by performing daily clean-up of the workspace and keeping tools and equipment organized and clean.
- Manage multiple tasks and switch between assignments as production priorities change while meeting tight deadlines.
- Complete important tasks before leaving for the day, which may occasionally require overtime.
- Apply strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to improve finishing quality and efficiency.
- Use basic computer systems for email, data entry, and navigating internal software to support production and quality documentation.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of manufacturing or deburring experience.
- Experience using hand tools for grinding, sealing, and finishing parts.
- Ability to read, understand, and execute work based on detailed job instructions, job sheets, and blueprints.
- Production experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail to identify defects and verify part features and measurements.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to address quality issues and improve processes.
- Organizational skills to manage tasks, tools, and documentation effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members and documenting work.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Capability to multitask and switch between assignments as needed.
- Ability to work independently and accomplish tasks without constant supervision.
- Familiarity with post-processing procedures such as deburring, sealing, and bonding.
- Basic computer skills, including email, data entry, navigating internal software, and using Microsoft Office applications.
- Commitment to good housekeeping practices, keeping the workspace and equipment clean and organized.
- Ability and willingness to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) based on the work being performed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with grinding, sealing, and finishing operations in a manufacturing setting.
- Hands-on experience with media blasters, sandblasters, and other finishing equipment.
- inspection or quality assurance related to finished parts.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Understanding of prototype and mass production manufacturing workflows.
- Continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in enhancing quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and production schedules, including occasional overtime when needed.

Work Environment

Work may involve tight deadlines and shifting priorities, and you may occasionally work overtime to complete critical tasks before the end of the day.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of CARLSBAD, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
