Job Title: Electrical Drafter


Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Drafter to join our team of Power Delivery professionals within the Substation group. This role offers the opportunity to provide designer support for substation engineering projects of varying scales.


Responsibilities

  • Create electrical drawings for facilities, including lighting, power, communications, security, and fire detection systems, ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Develop entry-level drawings using computer-aided design software under the supervision of Electrical Technicians or Engineers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of procedures for producing design developments and construction documents, along with a thorough understanding of engineering planning, drafting, and detailing.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support project success.

Essential Skills

  • Associate or technical school degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with Database/Document Management systems.
  • Commitment to actively participate in an employee-owned culture.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in designing electrical lighting, power, and systems for building projects.
  • Experience in Healthcare, Science and Technology, or Civic facilities.
  • Experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm is highly desirable.
  • Interest in sustainable design and LEED is desired.
  • Experience with MicroStation is a plus.

Work Environment

This role presents an excellent growth opportunity for self-directed individuals eager to learn and tackle new challenges. Initially, the candidate will work in-office during the contract duration, with potential for a hybrid schedule thereafter. Training will occur in-office to ensure proficiency, with potential remote work options. The preferred location is Irvine for initial equipment setup and orientation. The team consists of fewer than 10 people, and close collaboration with engineers is expected.
