Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Join a dynamic team to design and develop precision tooling and fixturing for alignment and assembly stations. You will create fabrication-ready mechanical drawings and documentation, and collaborate with suppliers and machine shops to source components and manage builds. Support product-level mechanical design and integration alongside optics and electronics teams, and contribute to semi-automated station design and lab equipment setup.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision tooling and fixturing for alignment and assembly stations.
• Create fabrication-ready mechanical drawings and documentation.
• Collaborate with suppliers and machine shops to source components and manage builds.
• Support product-level mechanical design and integration alongside optics and electronics teams.
• Set up and manage CAD environment, with a preference for SolidWorks; Fusion 360 is acceptable.
• Contribute to semi-automated station design and lab equipment setup.
• Navigate multiple concurrent projects with organization and follow-through.

Essential Skills

• SolidWorks or Fusion 360 experience, particularly in setting up software and design environments.
• Experience in mechanical design and new product development.
• Tooling and fixture design expertise, especially in semi-automated station design.
• 2–3 years of hands-on mechanical design experience.
• Strong CAD skills and familiarity with design for fabrication.
• Experience with precision machining, EDM, and prototype tooling with accuracy requirements of 2–4 mil.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience (GED plus 5–8 years in relevant roles).
• Start-up experience is highly desirable.
• Comfortable in fast-paced, startup environments with shifting priorities.
