Job Description
We are seeking an experienced SAS Environmental Test Technician to set up and operate vibration and shock test equipment, including electrodynamic shakers, accelerometers, and data acquisition systems. This role involves simulating launch and space conditions, interpreting test specifications from NASA, MIL-STD, or customer-defined standards, and developing comprehensive test plans and procedures. The position requires installing and securing test articles on vibration tables and ensuring accurate documentation of test data, parameters, anomalies, and results.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate vibration and shock test equipment to simulate launch and space conditions.
- Interpret test specifications and develop test plans and procedures based on NASA, MIL-STD, or customer standards.
- Install and secure test articles on vibration tables using appropriate fixtures and mounting hardware.
- Monitor and record test data, ensuring accurate documentation of test parameters, anomalies, and results.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure compliance with test protocols.
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment for accuracy and reliability.
- Work in cleanroom environments with high-value sensitive flight hardware.
- Support environmental testing beyond vibration, including thermal vacuum, acoustic, and shock testing.
Essential Skills
- Experience in requirements management and test requirements.
- Proficiency in mechanical and wire harness assembly.
- Experience in environmental non-destructive testing.
- Shaker table experience.
- Vibration and shock testing experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical technology preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in environmental or vibration testing, preferably in aerospace or defense.
- Familiarity with test standards such as MIL-STD-810, NASA GEVS, or similar.
- Proficiency with instrumentation tools like accelerometers, strain gauges, and data acquisition systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and data entry.
Work Environment
This position requires working onsite in Northridge, CA. The role is based in a high-tech environment, supporting the development of low orbiting satellites. You will be part of a dynamic team within the payloads development group.
