Job Description
The Quality Inspector – Incoming Components ensures that all incoming materials and components meet established quality standards before they enter production. This role focuses on performing detailed inspections, documenting findings, and collaborating closely with the quality control team to maintain high levels of product quality and regulatory compliance in a modern cosmetic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming components and materials to verify they meet defined quality standards, specifications, and documentation requirements.
- Perform sampling and first article inspections on incoming components to confirm conformance before release to production.
- Conduct receiving inspections and document any non-conforming materials, defects, or discrepancies identified during inspection.
- Prepare, complete, and support non-conformance material reports, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of issues.
- Maintain accurate, organized records of inspections, sampling results, first article inspections, and quality findings.
- Use Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications to record, analyze, and report inspection data and quality metrics.
- Collaborate with the quality control and quality assurance teams to investigate issues, address concerns, and support corrective actions.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) during all inspection activities.
- Review Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and other quality documentation to verify compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate inspection results clearly and professionally to relevant departments to support timely decision-making.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying trends in non-conformances and suggesting opportunities for process improvement.
- Previous experience in first article inspection or a closely related quality inspection role.
- Hands-on experience with sampling, receiving inspection, and inspection of incoming components.
- Practical experience preparing or working with non-conformance material reports.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects and discrepancies in components and documentation.
- Analytical skills to interpret inspection results, COAs, and quality data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office for data entry, tracking, and reporting.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Ability to follow and apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) consistently.
- Knowledge of general quality control and quality assurance principles and practices.
- Ability to work effectively with a quality control team and cross-functional partners.
- Experience working in a cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of Certificates of Analysis (COA) and their role in quality verification.
- Comfort working with inspection tools, sampling methods, and documentation systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to component and product quality.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple inspections and documentation tasks.
- Ability to contribute to continuous improvement and support a culture of quality.
This position operates within both lab and production environments in a state-of-the-art cosmetic manufacturing facility that uses modern, advanced equipment. The role follows a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays and overtime as needed to support production demands. The work involves time on the production floor inspecting incoming components and time in a lab or office setting to complete documentation, data entry, and reporting. The environment emphasizes adherence to GMP, GLP, SOPs, and high quality standards, offering opportunities to grow within multiple departments in a rapidly expanding organization.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moorpark, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
