Job Title: Phlebotomist - Diagnostics Company

Leading national diagnostics company is looking for a phlebotomist to join their team! Opportunity to join a fast-paced environment and work with patients of all ages!

Requirements

  • CA CPT License
  • At least 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist
  • Must be able to float to locations around Orange County
  • Must be flexible to work Monday-Friday, 6am-6pm

Job Description

As a Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties, troubleshooting, training, and providing workflow recommendations. Your primary function will be to ensure efficient and accurate specimen collection and processing.


Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
  • Decontaminate and update patient information as necessary.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections to patients.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Ensure 100% accuracy in matching test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperatures.
  • Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual departmental training sessions.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.


Essential Skills

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of experience in phlebotomy, venipuncture, pediatric and geriatric blood draw, and specimen processing.

Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and involves working in an outpatient draw setting. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience at a reputable national leader in diagnostics with the potential to convert to a permanent position. Junior candidates are welcome to apply.
