Job Title: Satellite Platform RF/EMC Systems Engineer


Job Description

The Satellite Platform RF/EMC Systems Engineer will engage in various tasks and activities, tailored to the candidate's experience. The role demands participation in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) analyses, reviewing communication payload RF transmitter/receiver analyses, and preparing system-level EMC test plans. The engineer will also support platform design activities and troubleshoot EMC-related issues on integrated satellite and platform engineering model test setups. Additionally, the role involves supporting RF/EMC aspects of systems engineering documentation and contributing to various program reviews.


Responsibilities

  • Perform EMC analyses and interpret unit-level EMC test reports.
  • Review communication payload RF transmitter/receiver analyses and test results, recommending design enhancements for electromagnetic compatibility.
  • Prepare system-level EMC test plans and conduct satellite-level EMC testing.
  • Support platform design activities related to grounding, shielding, and wiring harness signal segregation and routing.
  • Troubleshoot EMC-related issues on integrated satellite and platform engineering model test setups.
  • Support RF/EMC aspects of systems engineering documentation including requirements specifications, statement of compliance, verification matrix, and design descriptions.
  • Participate in various program reviews such as EQSR, SRR, PDR, and CDR.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or aerospace engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong RF and/or EMC engineering background.
  • Substantial experience with large-scale system-level EMC testing.
  • Experience with unit-level EMC testing per international standards or equivalent methods and testing levels.
  • Systems engineering experience including experience with RF, digital & analog electronic unit designs, and wiring harnesses.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Understanding of the space environment and communication satellites.
  • Demonstrated capability to efficiently work with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior members of the engineering team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of French is advantageous.

Work Environment

This is a remote position with 20% travel. This position is supporting EST Time Zone.
