Job Title: Machine Operator Assistant

Job Description

The Machine Operator Assistant supports machine operators with setups, changeovers, and tooling adjustments. This role involves bundling steel from production lines, moving finished products to designated areas, and maintaining cleanliness through sweeping, organizing, and removing debris or scrap. The assistant works across multiple production lines, both technical and structural, stacks products on pallets, labels them, applies stickers, and uses banding equipment. Additionally, the role requires operating jib cranes, saws, and other tools safely for material handling and cutting, measuring products for quality control, and assisting with welding alignment, supply restocking, and basic machine maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist machine operators with setups, changeovers, and tooling adjustments.
  • Bundle steel from production lines and move finished products to designated areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, organizing, and removing debris or scrap.
  • Work across multiple production lines as needed, both technical and structural.
  • Stack products on pallets, label them, apply stickers, and use banding equipment.
  • Operate jib cranes, saws, and other tools safely for material handling and cutting.
  • Measure products, coils, and tooling components for quality control and setup accuracy.
  • Follow daily housekeeping procedures and general safety rules.
  • Assist with welding alignment, supply restocking, and basic machine maintenance.
  • Perform additional tasks at specialized workstations and consult supervisors when unsure.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year operating machinery within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Bilingual capabilities, strongly preferred Spanish.
  • Ability to stand for the entire shift.
  • Capability to push, pull, move, and lift 40 lbs.
  • Safety consciousness and strong initiative.
  • Ability to perform basic addition and subtraction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Open to experience as candidates will be trained on all procedures.
  • Willingness to work 1-2 hours of overtime per day.
  • Openness to working on Saturdays if converted to a permanent position.

Work Environment

This position operates on the 1st shift with hours from 5 am to 1:45 pm. Interviews can be scheduled after 9 am. The environment requires standing throughout the shift and is safety-focused. Dress code requires appropriate safety gear and attire.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of PITTSBURG, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.67 - $19.67/hr.
